Nestled in the heart of county Kildare in Ireland, lies the beating heart of Project Regen, Prumpelstown Estate.
Dating back to the 19th century and steeped in Irish history, the estate has been farmed conventionally for generations. In 2020, it saw the beginning of the transition to regenerative farming and the modelling of the Project Regen approach.
A key pillar to Project Regen, our long-term commitment to creative positive environmental impact through regenerative agriculture, our work on the estate demonstrates the ability to farm hand-in-hand with nature, making positive environmental impact, whilst simultaneously providing a sustainable future for the family farm and their inheritors.
Through documenting and sharing the learnings of our journey, Prumpelstown Estate acts as a key knowledge transfer mechanism, inspiring other farmers to change their mindset, adopt new ways of farming, learn from our mistakes and help reverse climate change.
Prior to the Buitelaar family acquiring the Estate in late 2019, Prumpelstown Estate was both home to the Wrights family for generations and previously, the Duke of Leinster’s hunting lodge in the 17th Century.

Imported from England, Prumpelstown Estate is now home to a herd of purebred English Longhorn that have been specifically selected to become the nucleus of our Longhorn Scheme, enabling the breeding of bulls with the best genetics for the future.
